Well, we’ve all survived (more or less) the excesses of Christmas and the New Year celebrations into 2012, and it will not be the last. Next year this time, I shall be here writing with hindsight about the myth of the Mayan Armageddon in December 2012.

We may see an end to nations and the birth of new ones, an end to societies and the birth of new ones, and of course the end of economic systems and the birth of new ones. But we will not be seeing an end to the world. (well I suppose we wouldn’t would we?)

I promised a forecast of 2012, and because January is fairly quiet it will be here next week, but for the moment my usually monthly look at what will be happening. I’ll take this new year for a timely reminder that ‘The stars impel, they do not compel’ which means that we always have free will to do or not do what we choose. Of course, with free will, we always need to have the will to do what we know is best; whether we are led astray into temptation, that’s a different matter.

January….. is a quiet month astrologically, with no dramatic transits occurring….. That starts later in early February! Just a few things moving into place for what promises to be another exciting and interesting year. Having said that, we may well see some changes on/around the 13th as the Moon moves from North to South of the equator in its wobbly path around the Earth. With the after effects of the last eclipse, there could be a crisis for the Euro, which has already starting to suffer a crisis in confidence. Just to add to the drama, a few thunderstorms might provide a backdrop as temperatures drop and our mild winter begins to chill. The following week, around the 19th could see another pothole being encountered, so watch the Euro, and the winds too. The 23rd sees a New Moon in Aquarius at the same time as Mars has stationed in Virgo before it’s retrograde period. Ominous too.

The full 2012 yearly forecast next week, but for the moment just the transits that will affect us all. No Moon details included again because Moon moves so quickly and affects you on a daily basis.

So, here’s January.

31 Dec 2011 to 02 Jan 2012 Mercury Square Mars: The seemingly best ideas can get tangled indeed when they are not implemented correctly, and correcting that can be a tangle in itself. Thrashing things out seems to mark the current environment, and you can join in if you must — or if you can afford to, sit out the fray on the sidelines and let others spin their wheels.

06 Jan 2012 to 08 Jan 2012 Mercury Sextile Saturn: Slow and steady wins the race — in this case, without even knowing the race is on. Quiet thought in a still place dispels the cobwebs of the mind and substitutes depth for crowded considerations. A marathon of any kind is well begun now, and the pace will be set for a long run without getting winded.

06 Jan 2012 to 08 Jan 2012 Mercury Sextile Neptune: The messages of the spirit are clearest when you are not directly seeking them. So it is now that wisdom unheralded and unnoticed displays itself around you. A special comfort in the world around comes from knowing its secrets without shouting them. A quiet word and a knowing glance tell all.

08 Jan 2012 to 27 Jan 2012 Mercury Enters Capricorn: If you don’t have a mind like a steel trap, you may get shut out for the next few weeks, because linear thinking is for the moment all the rage. Digressions will get you dismissed, even if they’re terribly relevant, so save those side roads for the next trip. The skeleton crew of the mind is in charge on this watch.

08 Jan 2012 to 09 Jan 2012 Mercury Trine Jupiter: Big plans put into operation now will have legs that make seven-league strides. Confidence in what you have cooked up attracts customers and begets imitation, so move on apace to stay ahead of the competition. Ideas flow easily, but don’t take them for granted — put them into action to carry you in less creative times.

08 Jan 2012 to 09 Jan 2012 Mercury Square Uranus: Squabbles about pet concepts and particulars can get in the way of clarity and progress. Chasing down specifics can be more like chasing your tail. If at first you don’t succeed, don’t try, try again — just take a break and look at it later. Harsh words happen, but it’s only the heat of the moment, so forgive.

09 Jan 2012 to 09 Jan 2012 Moon Opposition Sun: Full Moon in Cancer brings fruition, but also high emotional tides; what you do now may turn out to have been overdone when you look back on it. Deals sealed now may swing erratically later on, but if kept under control will be fat and fruitful. This is the time for plucking the fruit from the tree, not planting one.

12 Jan 2012 to 14 Jan 2012 Venus Trine Saturn: Beauty and wealth both come from the bottom up — built, not just acquired. Desires are truly fulfilled only by plumbing their depths and knowing what it is you really want in the long term. Addressing these issues now allows for lasting satisfaction where recurrent cravings no longer unsettle the sleep.

12 Jan 2012 to 14 Jan 2012 Mercury Conjunction Pluto: Stubborn, hard-headed, intractable — these might describe anyone you run across, as the forcible pursuit of pet opinions seems to be the order of the day. It pays to make your point, but don’t beat your head against a wall – and don’t be the wall, either. A powerful day for beginnings, but only if you’re tireless down the road.

12 Jan 2012 to 14 Jan 2012 Venus Conjunction Neptune: Mystery holds much appeal and the more difficult it is to put a finger on, the more people are going to want it. Dreams, fantasies, fiction, and the generally ineffable are all good sellers, whoever is buying. A time to be gloriously unspecific and totally undemanding of the suddenly gossamer fabric of reality.

14 Jan 2012 to 08 Feb 2012 Venus Enters Pisces: The more ethereal the better for a few weeks, and if you can’t quite put your finger on it, that’s just what everybody wants. The elusive, mysterious, and hard to get or understand are what’s on the general menu, though satisfaction may be hard to find afterward. But just the right taste could lead straight to heaven.

14 Jan 2012 to 16 Jan 2012 Venus Sextile Jupiter: There is an opulence in good taste that surpasses grandeur, and the key to satisfaction is not how much you have but what you do with it. Taking just what you need to feed your desires makes for a gentle spiral of growth and gratification. By making it just so, the afterglow of contentment lingers on.

20 Jan 2012 to 19 Feb 2012 Sun Enters Aquarius: Groupthink and inclusiveness analysis are very much the mindset for the next month, which can broaden horizons but limit your individuality. You’ll do better at least temporarily as a team player, but don’t forget yourself in the technocracy of the moment, as when general moorings are lost, you’d best have your own.

20 Jan 2012 to 21 Jan 2012 Venus Sextile Pluto: Quiet confidence in achievable goals makes things run smoothly and cooperation in the mutual interest means everybody gets just the right piece of the pie. Giving easily without a thought to the cost breeds instant karma and it all comes back again in spades. Fearless love is its own greatest reward.

23 Jan 2012 to 23 Jan 2012 Moon Conjunction Sun: New Moon is the very time for giving up the old and ringing in the new, re-bundling your energies into another package. Commitments made now are intense, all-eggs-in-one-basket, but give them time to develop and to get their bearings. Time for laying cornerstones, the walls and rafters come later.

22 Jan 2012 to 24 Jan 2012 Mercury Trine Mars: It’s a good time to put ideas into action in a big way, and when you put your best foot forward you’ll find agreement and cooperation all around. Supreme faith in your ideas will be infectious — just know you’re right, then go ahead. Undertakings begun today will seem seriously smart for a long time to come.

24 Jan 2012 to 14 Apr 2012 Mars Stationary Retrograde: Standing still for a few hours, the red warrior planet Mars looks around. Mars is the planet that will cross the road for a good fight…. Avoid his gaze where possible.

26 Jan 2012 to 28 Jan 2012 Mercury Square Saturn: Negative thinking can sour the environment and confound the mind, so don’t be a sourpuss — and when you see one coming, cross to the other side of the street. It’s easy to get into a downward spiral, so deal with problem issues only once and be done with them. Criticism gets nowhere, so it’s not worth the bother.

27 Jan 2012 to 14 Feb 2012 Mercury Enters Aquarius: Ideas abound for the next few weeks, and everybody gets their say, however meaningful or relevant. Life is run by a committee and it’s a dead heat between all-around fair-sharing and hands-down bureaucracy. But, you can get your version’s fifteen minutes in the sun now, so why not stick your oar in, too?

28 Jan 2012 to 29 Jan 2012 Mercury Sextile Uranus: The wellsprings of the mind are, like water, often taken for granted. When ideas flow fresh from the tap, one assumes they are always there, as at this moment. Launch it now and that will likely always be the case, but a look inside the mechanics of your everyday creativity might help you drink when wells run dry.

28 Jan 2012 to 29 Jan 2012 Mercury Square Jupiter: The best-laid plans suddenly are at sixes and sevens, mostly because there’s a nest of non-working components that just keep on popping up. Basically, it’s a time for debugging new operations and whipping coming launches into shape. A better time for sorting things out than for starting anew.

Well, here we are – last month of the year, and certainly not going out with a whimper. Of course the excitement of last month continues with Mars stoking up Saturn, Mars and Pluto. The pepper spray incident in the USA, plus the shenanigans in Syria, the public workers strike in UK, the impending collapse of the Eurozone, plus several earthquakes across the globe are all examples of what I predicted.

This month there’s more of the same influence, PLUS the last lunar eclipse of the year, AND the winter Solstice! Who ever said astrology’s not exciting???

The violence and public unrest will continue, there will be stronger feelings of injustice as authorities attempt to keep control, but remember, ‘The government should be afraid of the people’. The UK riots are now revealed as being a back-lash against the police, who have gradually lost the respect of many people. I was brought up to believe that “A policeman is your friend” I cannot say that it is one of my continuing beliefs. Certainly the scene of a battle dressed policeman discharging a pepper spray canister directly into the faces of peaceful protesters sitting in a line shocked the world. However it simply broadcast what people already knew – the police were easily capable and willing to commit thuggery. European police forces should take heed.

The Full Moon in Gemini falls on the 10th during the afternoon, and the eclipse can be seen just after Moon Rise between 5 – 5.30. Eclipses have a lasting effect – around six months for a lunar event. The Moon is in Gemini – so communication and technology is the theme. The two factors which make this one special is that Mars in Virgo is square the Moon and Sun, suggesting that some very precise (Virgo) but compulsive (Mars) words will be voiced. The Moon is in the second house of wealth, so I think we shall hear some hard home truths about economies in general. Standing in the wings at the moment of the eclipse is Uranus in Aries. Not simply Uranus, but Uranus stationary! Standing still, focussed, staring at what’s happening…… Uranus the ‘bolt of lightning’ effect…. But fortunately Uranus is in the 11th house of society and good fortune. Maybe there will be a sudden (Uranus) societal reaction to world events, and maybe some will be compulsive (Mars), but there will be ‘gifts from the King’ as the textbooks say, from that 11th house – and I think that will be more than just Santa Claus! Problem is with Uranus, we must always expect the unexpected, but at least there’s some good news for the months to come. Remember – eclipses have a 6 months influence!

And the Solstice! Normally the major event of December, but somewhat overawed this year by the powerful planetary activities. The shortest day, the day when the Sun enters Capricorn, the Solstice was celebrated by Pagans and Druids as the promise of the Cosmos that darkness would fall no more, and light would return. It is a new beginning – almost like a New Moon, but the Solstice marks the New Year, the darkest moment after which everything gets better. A time for celebration indeed! So, be awake at 06.30 on the 22nd and join me in quiet contemplation of the coming year. I know some will say that New Year is the rollover from December to January, but that’s only because the church and the Romans fiddled the calendars, but the Holly and the Ivy, plus the Mistletoe bear witness to the Pagan and Druid origins of the season.

There’s more to tell from the Solstice chart, but I’ll keep that ‘til next week – until then, on with the daily transits.

30 Nov 2011 to 02 Dec 2011 Venus Conjunction Pluto: Compulsive desire is all the rage, and some people are ready to go to any ends to get what they want. Gotta, gotta, have it, whatever the price anyone pays. So, be sure that you don’t get in between the desirer and the desiree. On the other hand, this is the aspect of unbearably overwhelming passion when put into effect.

30 Nov 2011 to 04 Dec 2011 Sun Square Mars: There is a grating quality to the moment that smells of friction and wasted energy. This can come from needless repetition that overheats the system or from backing and filling because of taking hasty aim. Lessons learned now will be valuable, but get them under your belt before you make final decisions.

03 Dec 2011 to 04 Dec 2011 Mercury Conjunction Sun: High mental energy burns hot, a real brain boiler. The trick is to keep up with everyone without missing a stitch or dropping the ball. Great ideas abound, but don’t buy everything you see until you give it a second, cooler look. Everyone can be too close to the subject to realize that what recommends it is only the heat of the moment.

04 Dec 2011 to 05 Dec 2011 Mercury Square Mars: The seemingly best ideas can get tangled indeed when they are not implemented correctly, and correcting that can be a tangle in itself. Thrashing things out seems to mark the current environment, and you can join in if you must — or if you can afford to, sit out the fray on the sidelines and let others spin their wheels.

04 Dec 2011 to 06 Dec 2011 Venus Trine Mars: The energy to do what it takes to get what you want is easily at hand, so take a big scoop and enjoy. Effortless give and take are in the atmosphere, so seek out mutually beneficial moves and plug right in, no struggle necessary. Projects or commitments begun now will turn out joyful and eminently satisfying for all.

10 Dec 2011 to 13 Jul 2012 Uranus Stationary Direct: Uranus stands still before moving forward in its normal direction. Rather like a walker at a cross roads stopping to observe the scene, it will act on whatever catches its eye. Only time will tell what that will be.

10 Dec 2011 to 10 Dec 2011 Moon Opposition Sun: Full Moon brings fruition, but also high emotional tides; what you do now may turn out to have been overdone when you look back on it. Deals sealed now may swing erratically later on, but if kept under control will be fat and fruitful. This is the time for plucking the fruit from the tree, not planting one.

14 Dec 2011 to 12 Mar 2012: Mercury Stationary Direct. After the crossed wires of the past few weeks, Mercury stops, ready to move forward again, on to March. The fog clears, and communication/technology will make sense again.

17 Dec 2011 to 19 Dec 2011 Venus Square Saturn: Whittling away at your needs too insistently may only serve to magnify them and force a spiraling return to an overtapped well. If you take what you need and be done with it, what you have will suffice, even if you have some reservations. Total satisfaction may have to wait a bit, complaints don’t help, only annoy.

So there is the beginning of the month, more next week, with lots of news about the winter Solstice. Meanwhile, enjoy the Eclipse.

PART 2

One of the nice things about dramatic activity and action around the world is that it becomes so much easier to say ‘…told you so…’ And so it is again this week. Big earthquake in Mexico, much of Scotland without power due to horrendous gales. Major upheaval and resistance to the established order across the world, especially in Syria, and now growing in Russia, leaving the troubles in Libya, Bahrain, Pakistan and Afghanistan seeming like a storm in a teacup. Of course the UK is in the news for daring to stand against handing domination and control of Europe to Germany; but I think Britain’s been there before!

In coming weeks I think a recent trigger for action will be the death from ‘natural causes’ in custody of a protester in China. The Chinese authorities have a dilemma with the downturn is the rest of the world causing millions worldwide to cut their spending – and that means a cold wind is about to blow in China, with cuts in growth and raised expectations.

Did you see the eclipse? I confess I did not because here it was only partially visible. Many parts of the world did, and we will all feel its effects over the next six months. A new awakening, a watershed of technological progress, and possibly a watershed of philosophical understanding. Will the world wake up at last I wonder?

Of course next week we see the winter Solstice, the moment when the Earth reaches its maximum tilt away from the Sun which it orbits. That creates the shortest day/longest night phenomenon which is celebrated worldwide by every culture both ancient and modern. The Aztecs, the Mayans, the ancient Egyptians all celebrated this festival of the dawning of a new year. As mentioned last week, various fiddling with calendars by the Romans and the churches have caused the Western world to celebrate the relatively modern ‘Christmas’. Solstice occurs at 06.30 on December 22nd as the Sun enters zodiac sign Capricorn. At that precise moment, the Sun exactly squares dramatic Uranus, suggesting a season of dramatic happenings; it is exactly trine to Jupiter, promising hope and expansion. Those will be the major themes for the next three months. The Sun has passed several aspects with Chiron, Mars and Neptune, but we have already seen the shattering of dreams, the wounding and the wars. The trine of Saturn to both Chiron and Neptune suggests that given discipline, our hopes and dreams can be kept alive, and the suffering we currently endure will pass. This year, the New Moon in Capricorn (there’s one every year) occurs just after the Solstice – It seems the Cosmos is telling us loud and clear of a new era.

And 2012? Well, I’m still working on that one – It will be an overview of what the new year will bring. The annual forecast for 2011 proved to be spot on, so watch out for the 2012 edition.

Meanwhile, the transits for the rest of December.

17 Dec 2011 to 19 Dec 2011 Venus Square Saturn: Whittling away at your needs too insistently may only serve to magnify them and force a spiralling return to an over tapped well. If you take what you need and be done with it, what you have will suffice, even if you have some observations. Total satisfaction may have to wait a bit, complaints don’t help, only annoy.

18 Dec 2011 to 20 Dec 2011 Sun Sextile Saturn: Small investments are the safest, and small returns mount up. Conservative thinking can pay off if you don’t make a big deal out of it. Any boat you launch now will be hard to rock, even in a storm, so it’s a good time to ease her away from the dock and put gradually to sea. The world awaits, but don’t rush.

20 Dec 2011 to 14 Jan 2012 Venus Enters Aquarius: Everything is worth a try for the next few weeks, and branching out to have a little of each is what it’s all about. That of course includes taking the banal with the sublime, and if mixed tastes are not your style you may want to tread water for a while. On the other hand, there will be some dishes up for grabs you wish you’d known about earlier, so don’t turn a blind eye.

19 Dec 2011 to 21 Dec 2011 Sun Sextile Neptune: Implicit understandings based on mutual visions are the opportunity of the day, so don’t take your dreams for granted. What you share with others on the inner front greases the path to harmony and profit, so anything you can cook up along those lines will provide you with a tangible window to your imagination.

20 Dec 2011 to 21 Dec 2011 Venus Square Jupiter: An inclination to overdo beyond diminishing returns is fuelled by the desire to get things just right. One more added touch, just another taste, try it once again, until satisfaction goes out the window. Sometimes less really is more, even if it doesn’t seem like it, so backing off may save you both time and money.

20 Dec 2011 to 22 Dec 2011 Venus Sextile Uranus: You don’t have to go crazy trying to discover new sensations. Sometimes the slightest variation in a time-honored recipe will turn things around with hardly any effort. Try a new ingredient, a new position, a new side road – you’ll be surprised what’s just next door and around the corner, and who’s doing it, too.

22 Dec 2011 to 20 Jan 2012 Sun Enters Capricorn: New Year’s resolutions are just part of the getting-earnest style of the next month, where sincerity, business, and sometimes desperation are the drivers which themselves lose steam when the New Year turns out to be just another new year. Pretending deadly seriousness can be a kick, but living it is a drag, so play there, but don’t stay there.

21 Dec 2011 to 23 Dec 2011 Sun Trine Jupiter: If you want your plans to develop on track and evolve big time, this is the time to lay them on the table. Imagination and inspiration go hand in hand with motivation and coordination more than usual, so bring everybody together in that spirit and you’ll have an operation that can’t be beat.

21 Dec 2011 to 23 Dec 2011 Sun Square Uranus: Abrasiveness and annoyance are qualities you might be running into right now, so make sure you’re not displaying them yourself. Impatience is not a virtue, even if you know you’re right, and it’s easy for everyone to pointlessly butt heads. Schemes laid now may well be half-baked, so take a second look, maybe a third

24 Dec 2011 to 24 Dec 2011 Moon Conjunction Sun: New Moon is the very time for giving up the old and ringing in the new, rebundling your energies into another package. Commitments made now are intense, all-eggs-in-one-basket, but give them time to develop and to get their bearings. Time for laying cornerstones, the walls and rafters come later.

25 Dec 2011 to 04 Oct 2012 Jupiter Stationary Direct: hope, optimism, growth and expansion are what Jupiter promises. After a period of reflection, Jupiter re-works some ground, and after March (ish) we will start to see the benefits.

28 Dec 2011 to 30 Dec 2011 Sun Conjunction Pluto: Putting up resistance and providing it are in the air, so be ready to find a way around issues not worth fighting for. Undertakings begun now will have a strong element of power and change, but they can wind up taking up all your time in order to retain control of them. All or nothing choices can be avoided just by waiting them out.

29 Dec 2011 to 29 Dec 2011 Moon Sextile Sun: Taking it easy and letting things happen will let opportunities continue to grow that are already underway. Situations beginning now will be cooperative and helpful to you as they progress. A general atmosphere of getting along together prevails and will continue to if you just go with the flow.

And so there it is, the last transit of 2011.

Enjoy the festive period, have a Cool Yule, and I look forward to your company in the New Year, when we can turn our minds to hope and optimism for the future.

Blessings of the Cosmos to you all.

Those who accept the power of astrology sometimes ask me about the best time/day to start something – Will the planets be in the right position etc?

This branch is known as ‘elective astrology’. It chooses the right time to ‘elect’ to do something by checking in advance where the planets will be. No different really than looking at the sky to anticipate sunshine or rain. Getting married is quite a favourite. And it works! That’s from practical experience too!

The love of my life Eileen and I recently flew away to a romantic Registry in UK to at long last be married. Not in Ibiza I grant you, but we’ll be doing the same as many couples and having a blessing ceremony here in Ibiza during early spring. Some of our friends from Ibiza joined us, so in spirit it was an Ibiza wedding.

The timing in all truth was almost accidental, as I have to tell you that for over two years I’ve been constructing charts to try to find a ‘good’ day when the planets and stars would favour our marriage.

Several months ago while looking forward at the calendar for this and next year, I realised that dates were getting tight, so I picked a date and said ‘What about this?’ Eileen having agreed, I suddenly thought – Ah…. Chart? So I set one for the day, time, and place…. Lo and behold it turned up trumps! Better than I could have ever wished for. Out of about fifty criteria, forty seven were good, and the remaining three were not terrible. The cosmos would smile on us.

We had a fantastic day; everything went right for us and the family and friends who joined us. The weather forecast was rain and fog for the day – instead we had sunshine! The cosmos truly gave us its blessing!

We’ll be celebrating here on Ibiza too at the incredible Neolithic stone circle at Mandalay in Cala Jondal. This must be one of the most spiritually powerful places on the island. Yes, it’s a REAL stone circle created by renowned energy healer Derek Talbot, using stones and boulders from the Prescelly hills in Wales. Yes, Derek transported the stones from UK because they are so very special, drawing and focussing the subtle energy from the cosmos.

Just standing in the circle you can feel the energy focussed from the cosmos, – and we’re actually going to celebrate our marriage there with family and friends witnessing our vows and blessings.

Of course it will be a bit of a ‘busman’s holiday’ for Eileen and I, as ‘Ibiza Eileen’, maker of the finest wedding cakes on Ibiza at ibizacakes.com will be making our cake, and I shall as ‘Hedley Paul’ of blessings-on-ibiza.com will be writing our special vows and blessings. Luckily we both love our work, enjoying the happiness of so many couples, but it may feel strange sitting on the other side of the fence.

Meanwhile, a pic from our wedding day in UK.

Late i know, but there have been distractions!

Before I move on to the issue of Mars and its influence during the next six months, let me reflect upon some recent history, and the planets involved.

Actually, just one for the moment, Saturn.

Saturn has the reputation of being harsh, of bringing to book; I call it the ‘stern schoolmaster’ who looks at you with hawk eyes, intimidating you by presenting you with your own actions and words. Looking critically in the mirror is Saturnian. The Saturn in us is our harshest critic. Saturn can be like a cosmic parent…..

Saturn is ruler of the zodiac earth sign Capricorn, and ancient ruler of the zodiac air sign Aquarius. Modern astrologers have adopted Uranus as the modern ruler of Aquarius; I use both, as joint rulers.

Saturn rules various activities and objects, but primarily the earth and things below ground such as iron and other ferrous metals.

I have written much in this forum about Pluto in Capricorn, and the calling to account with huge intensity (Pluto) of those who should know better; those who abused their position; those who abused people, and those who abused the earth.

That started in January 2008, and continues on until March 2023 when Pluto makes its first move into Aquarius. Pluto dodges forward and back, in and out of Aquarius until November 2024 when it finally decides to leave Capricorn for good. This period of transition will be matched by a social change, from the current stern regime of Capricorn, to a new egalitarian (Aquarian) era of fairness and clarity of thought, or at least perceived to be so. That new society will be run by the young people of today, who must watch in amazement (and disdain) as we adults make a mess of running our economies, our societies, and our planet.

The egalitarian Aquarian society will dominate until 2044 when Pluto enters Pisces, which is an interesting concept…. Intense Pluto in laid back Pisces….. just like punching thin air I would imagine. Maybe 2044 will be the real 1984? Hmmmmmm…..

Back to Saturn – planet of the earth; terra firma, and all below it. Now let’s think of some relatively recent and intense (Pluto) earth related activity…… major earthquakes across the planet, miners trapped and dying, Saddam Hussein captured after hiding in a hole in the ground…. And now Muhammar Gadaafi captured while hiding in a drain… another hole in the ground. World politics so heavily influenced by oil…. in the ground.

Pluto intense…. Saturn….. ground…..

Well, I guess by now Mr Editor is thinking I need to get back to the nitty-gritty of inner planet astrology – what happens THIS month, not what happens in this decade… or more.

So on to the transits for November. No Moon mentioned because it moves so fast.

31 Oct 2011 to 02 Nov 2011 Mercury Square Neptune: It’s easy to insist on cutting your way through the confusion only to find yourself more at sea than before. Perhaps it is better to roll over and go back to sleep and wake up on the other side of the bed. Elusive concepts flee in the face of challenge, so watch the show without requiring explanation. No subtitles.

02 Nov 2011 to 26 Nov 2011 Venus Enters Sagittarius: A good belly laugh satisfies everyone right now, and refined taste is not necessary to make a hit. In fact, nuance may not be much in demand at all, so don’t expect you’re subtleties to get lapped up. Go for the gusto, along with everyone else, or else sip your sup on the side. Don’t knock the slapstick, however, it’s still classic.

02 Nov 2011 to 08 Jan 2012 Mercury Enters Sagittarius People will say anything for a laugh about now – and for the next few weeks they’ll tend to just say anything in general and then keep talking. Blue-sky blustering is the order of the day, but there’s a kernel of truth in some of those free-form filibusters, so don’t overlook that fleck of gold gleaming in the pan.

02 Nov 2011 to 04 Nov 2011 Venus Trine Uranus: A broad scope of varied and original experiences are open for exploration, and it’s easy to lose your fear of risk and embrace the new. What might have seemed a bit over the top before now looks like your cup of tea, with others jumping in to try out the most exotic tastes. There’s nothing like a hands-on education!

02 Nov 2011 to 04 Nov 2011 Mercury Trine Uranus: Original ideas find a home and progress is easy on all fronts for those who get in gear and make something of it. What was obscure before is obvious now, but it will be history soon if it’s not exploited, so get on your own bandwagon before someone else takes it over. It’s Thomas Edison time (or Bill Gates?), so exploit the moment.

05 Nov 2011 to 09 Nov 2011 Mars Opposition Neptune: Energy leaks and loss of control make for confusing manoeuvres where everyone wonders just what’s going on. If anyone does, they’re not letting on. Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me? Hard to tell right now, and hard to make a move when information is foggy, patchy, unreliable.

09 Nov 2011 to 04 Jun 2012 Neptune Stationary Direct: Foggy Neptune the dissolver from the depths touches his foot once more in our world after a period of retrograde reflection. In November 2008 it turned direct in November just as Pluto entered Capricorn – the beginning of the dissolution of the world’s economic system. Neptune’s essence is to lead us into chaos in order to reach for deeper understandings of life. It is not always easy. We love to be secure, even when it is most dysfunctional. Neptune is exactly conjunct Chiron the teacher, who teaches us by wounding us and then healing us; Neptune and Chiron are in partile opposition to Mars, which in turn forms part of a golden triangle with Pluto and Jupiter.

10 Nov 2011 to 10 Nov 2011 Moon Opposition Sun: Full Moon brings fruition, but also high emotional tides; what you do now may turn out to have been overdone when you look back on it. Deals sealed now may swing erratically later on, but if kept under control will be fat and fruitful. This is the time for plucking the fruit from the tree, not planting one.

Ibiza Astroblog November 2011 Part two

Mars… oh yes Mars – warrior planet, the ‘not looking before it leaps’ planet…. Is slowing, ready for a period of retrograde, and has already dropped below its mean or average speed. However it is also moving in its orbit ever closer to Earth. It will move away again never fear, but we are from the end of October ‘til April/May next, due a close call from Mars. Watch out for the ‘red planet’ growing larger in the night sky. Think anger, think violence – sudden, almost unprovoked, for no reason….. Whether on a National scale, or with your neighbour, or the person in the same supermarket queue….. We are in the midst of Pluto in Capricorn. Now welcome Mars to the party!

And just when you thought it was safe…… we have an eclipse… or at least a partial solar one on Sept 25th. This eclipse series commenced in 1074 when the (catholic) church cast its priests to lives of celibacy. Expect therefore some governmental crackdowns over the coming months, not only here but across the globe.

Remember, remember, the 5th of November – of gunpowder, treason and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot. On Guy Fawkes night I watched the film ‘Vengence’, which is a futuristic film parody of Guy Fawkes. It left me with an eerie chill – One of the slogans of the revolting masses was: “The people should not be afraid of government – The government should be afraid of the people” I pondered over the turbulence in Greece. The government was instrumental in creating their problems, and is now looking to the people to accept austerity measures in order to sort it out. Much the same as British banks – went down the pan because of their own mis-management, and the taxpayer had to bail them out!

Now let’s reflect again on Pluto in Capricorn (yes again I know!) The whole Greek (and PIIGS) problems are highlighted because Saturn is calling to account the fecklessness and corruption which still pervades so many economies and governments. And, Saturn being Saturn does not give up on a task undertaken. The stern old schoolmaster does not accept lies, spin, or bull***t. Sadly it is taking politicians a long time to learn that. I think the present situation could become more inflamed with the influence of Mars. Which leaves me with the reflection that: “The people should not be afraid of government – The government should be afraid of the people”

Way ahead in early March, we see the Sun move into opposition to Mars, and Venus into opposition to Saturn, and that appears to indicate a crunch time economically. Whether that’s in Europe or in the USA, or in both, (or indeed elsewhere), the potential is there. Mars representing hot headed action, against the Sun representing the people, and then Venus representing wealth, challenged by Saturn representing a reality check.

Back to this month, we have a new Moon, with a partial eclipse on the 25th, and like last month it’s another SuperMoon, so the same warning about violent weather, volcano eruptions, earthquakes etc. apply. North Africa, Italy, Thailand and the North of Russia seen to all fall in the prone zone. October’s SuperMoon brought all these – threats of more this month I’m afraid. And as if that’s not all, Mercury moves retrograde from the 24th, so watch out for everything technological going wrong for a few weeks. Keep a box of candles handy, plus a spare container of water…… You never know!

Well after all that, back to the transits for November

11 Nov 2011 to 03 Jul 2012 Mars Enters Virgo: Focused energy is the name of the general game for some time to come, with measured and targeted tasks the preferred approach. Efforts that benefit from attention to detail are favoured, and generalists may be side-lined until the current assignment is completed. Get a copy of the rules (you probably won’t have to look far) and play along.

15 Nov 2011 to 18 Nov 2011 Mars Trine Jupiter: Acceleration is easy and an abundance of energy is available to fuel new projects, new approaches. Exercise makes you only feel stronger and it’s a joy to push the envelope and watch it grow bigger. Strain is a thing of the past, and outgoing, ebullient manners are the order of the day.

18 Nov 2011 to 18 Nov 2011 Moon Square Sun: Uncertainty and shifting grounds can mark the day’s outcomes, and confidence may retreat in the face of a challenge. Confrontation is the wrong game to play, but pulling out entirely is equally unsuitable. Make judicious compromise now and the resulting situation will improve, but don’t chase diminishing returns.

19 Nov 2011 to 21 Nov 2011 Sun Square Neptune: Deceits and deceptions are hard to separate from honest mistakes and confusions, but when in doubt, it’s probably best not to follow up and try to find out. It’s easy for everyone to get into a tangle over insubstantial misperceptions that waste time and energy, so let it lie and don’t make moves – you want to be on a solid foot.

21 Nov 2011 to 23 Nov 2011 Venus Sextile Saturn: The little things in life can be the most satisfying, and, when closely viewed, often loom larger than they really are. Simple desires, simply satisfied, have a way of sustaining life that allows both joy and unhindered progress. Today’s endeavours will share that quality as they develop, quenching your thirst, banking your fires.

22 Nov 2011 to 22 Dec 2011 Sun Enters Sagittarius: Expect a lot of straight talk flying about for the next month or so – ’tis the season. Of course, it’s not all as straight as it’s made out to be, and playing along is part of the game. But that doesn’t matter, as enthusiasm and optimism can be quite sufficient by themselves to drive it all along to another level.

22 Nov 2011 to 24 Nov 2011 Sun Trine Uranus: Original thinking and new approaches will pay off if you put them in gear now. Inventiveness with staying power is available, so don’t be a stick in the mud, get rolling. Yesterday’s weirdness becomes today’s leading edge, so come out of the closet with whatever you were holding back and it just might pay off.

21 Nov 2011 to 25 Nov 2011 Mars Trine Pluto: Forceful action is highlighted by confidence and follow-through, which doubles the available power at hand. Swing through, not at, the ball and it will fly straight and true. Today’s beginnings will grow self-reliant and reliable, fuelled by faith and conviction that converts to action anytime, anywhere.

24 Nov 2011 to 14 Dec 2011 Mercury Stationary Retrograde: Another of Mercury’s backward journeys, and some astrologers say that all communications suffer…… I think not all…. But some – just be careful out there, and don’t buy or sell anything which involves technology, ‘cos you never know!

24 Nov 2011 to 25 Nov 2011 Venus Sextile Neptune: Good taste is everything and it’s at its most real when you don’t even notice it. What feels right, is, and there’s no need to question it right now. Enjoy the drink that’s already been brewed and you’ll find it suits you more than you ever imagined as the rest of the world is in a tasting mood, too.

25 Nov 2011 to 25 Nov 2011 Moon Conjunction Sun: New Moon is the very time for giving up the old and ringing in the new, rebundling your energies into another package. Commitments made now are intense, all-eggs-in-one-basket, but give them time to develop and to get their bearings. Time for laying cornerstones, the walls and rafters come later.

26 Nov 2011 to 20 Dec 2011 Venus Enters Capricorn: Less is more for a few weeks, and you’ll find people paying for it that way, as well. Small servings are sufficient, simple but pure flavours are the best – in people as well as food. If you’re not wearing basic black, you’re probably overdressed, at least as far as others are concerned. Keep it simple or sit it out.

26 Nov 2011 to 27 Nov 2011 Venus Square Uranus: One experiment leads to another, and the further you push your tastes, the less they seem to satisfy. In general, situations arising today can lead to pushing the envelope of desire without getting the satisfaction everyone is looking for. If you can’t seem to get what you want, you may actually be happier with simpler fare.

27 Nov 2011 to 28 Nov 2011 Venus Trine Jupiter: Bounty and generosity go hand in hand and snowball when everyone is willing to tap assets without holding back. To live is to give, and get back accordingly. Launch it now and there will always be plenty to go around, a veritable birthday for the golden goose. The operant idea is growth through good feeding in all respects.

Well, there’s November – not all gloom and doom, – Venus trine Jupiter is the easy come day, so buy the Lotto that day!

A busy month, so expect more observations next week.

Until then, enjoy the blessings of the Cosmos!

Hmmmmmm….. Where to start? We seem to be cursed to live in interesting times!

Autumnal Equinox occurred during mid-morning last Friday (23rd). The nights now become longer than the days, following the Sun slipping into Libra to mark the magic moment.

Equinox means “equal night” and this happens because the Sun is positioned above the equator and at this time of the year – day and night are equal in length all over the world. This also happens at the Spring Equinox in March.

Weather patterns were predicted from quarter day observations in old country folklore, and in modern times, astro-meteorologists use the points of the four quarter days to give a broad prediction for the next three months.

The current equinox chart:

Autumnal Equinox

From it I can tell you that the next three months will see generally quite cold crisp dry weather, the blustery winds of the summer will abate, and we will have some fiercely sunny days; cold but sunny. The risk too of some exciting electric storms too. The chart (as they all do) carries a puzzle, with Neptune ominously hovering retrograde. Some cold cloudy days I would guess.

Each New Moon too gives its forecast for the following lunar cycle of 28 days, and each week sees an aspect formed between Moon and Sun which provides a weekly forecast.

Looking back at September, there was a rare conjunction during late-morning yesterday (Sept 27th) with five planets in Libra. The Sun, Moon, and Mercury in close conjunction, while Saturn and Venus sat in conjunction a little farther on. Both those conjunctions suggest strongly conflicting emotions – internal conflict (maybe external too!) producing sudden outbursts as Mercury in placid Libra is precisely opposed by Uranus in aggressive Aries. New Moons suggest the start of things…. Hopefully it’s not a continuing theme.

Let me add fuel to that particular fire by observing that the aforementioned stellium in Libra emphasises a T square, with Uranus in opposition to it and Pluto square to both the stellium and Uranus. So…. Add intense pressure indicated by Pluto and sudden and unexpected happenings from Uranus…… I suspect from other factors in the chart that it may have connections with property and wealth, – not huge amounts, but that owned by most ordinary folk. The current fragility of the Eurozone makes me fearful that this may be a tipping point. I hope not, and the composition of the stellium at least gives me optimism. I think nevertheless that we will see a crisis peak around this time. Some good news though, with Venus aligning with Saturn on the 30th. The sunrise chart for that day suggests that solutions will be found. Maybe the world will put on its sensible shoes at last and we’ll turn the corner….

So many planets so close together on one side of the Earth have strong gravitational pulls, especially with the Moon crossing the equator on the 26th, and closing to Perigee on the 28th. All of which distorts the Earth’s crust, producing higher tides and possibly earthquake activity. Hmmmmm….. a not-so-funny time.

Moving onto October, life ambles along without any big dramas obvious.

Full Moon on the 12th is in aggressive Aries, opposing the Sun in peace loving Libra. An interesting conjunction of Sun and Saturn on the 13th follows closely. New Moon in Scorpio on the 26th and that’s the headline news for October. The first week of so of October sees mostly Lunar aspects forming and parting, as Moon flits past the others, creating one emotion one moment and another emotion next moment.

On then with the day-to-day transits interpretations; some this week, more next. Remember that if your ruling sign or rising sign planets are involver you’ll probably feel the effect more than some others, and the effect rises and falls over the period indicated.

01 Oct 2011 to 04 Oct 2011 Mars Square Jupiter: Upward spirals consume evermore energy without making much upward progress, and those urging on their stallions may actually be beating a dead horse. Wasting energy in the interest of imagined accomplishment can really tax resources, so take a second look before you jump in and burden yourself in the general fray.

06 Oct 2011 to 07 Oct 2011 Mercury Conjunction Saturn: It may be hard to get your head into gear, but once you do, you can go into great detail. Thoroughness is the watchword and you will not want to be in the company of scatterbrains. With the ‘Thinker’ as the model, there is the risk of taking things too seriously, but anything begun now will wind up a heavyweight for sure.

07 Oct 2011 to 08 Oct 2011 Venus Trine Neptune: Getting creative and dreaming up new joys and pleasures comes with ease, and there are plenty of others playing in that sandbox, so share and share alike. Spiritual and material pleasures do not need to conflict, but can go hand in hand for self-satisfaction and the benefit of all. Believe it, and it will come true.

09 Oct 2011 to 02 Nov 2011 Venus Enters Scorpio: The hunt for objects of desire is in full swing for a few weeks, so expect some very intense satiation all around. It doesn’t show much on the surface, but when the doors close and the shades go down, it’s all the way – literally or figuratively. Dipping your toe in is not what’s happening now, so beware if you try to — you may be pulled in headlong with the rest.

12 Oct 2011 to 12 Oct 2011 Moon Opposition Sun: Full Moon in Libra brings fruition, but also high emotional tides; what you do now may turn out to have been overdone when you look back on it. Deals sealed now may swing erratically later on, but if kept under control will be fat and fruitful. This is the time for plucking the fruit from the tree, not planting one.

Ibiza Astroblog October – part two

Well, as expected the Supermoon brought some dramatic weather during the past week. Now we have a short period of respite before the busy time at the end of the month. Lots of things coming to fruition, and one major thing starting. Mars commences a phase which in past times has brought dramatic events around the world. And so it will be again. Starting at the end of October and lasting through ‘til June 2012. Mars – warrior planet, ruler of Aries and traditional ruler of Scorpio. I’ll expand on it more next week.

11 Oct 2011 to 13 Oct 2011 Mercury Trine Neptune: It’s easier than usual to put difficult and elusive concepts into words and put them to work for the general benefit. If you have a dream, now you can speak about it and people will understand. Listen to the same from others, who now have the same opportunity to share their inner visions and unite with you.

12 Oct 2011 to 14 Oct 2011 Venus Sextile Pluto: Quiet confidence in achievable goals makes things run smoothly and cooperation in the mutual interest means everybody gets just the right piece of the pie. Giving easily without a thought to the cost breeds instant karma and it all comes back again in spades. Fearless love is its own greatest reward.

13 Oct 2011 to 02 Nov 2011 Mercury Enters Scorpio: There’s an air of secrecy about for the next few weeks, as if everybody’s trying to keep a copyright on what they’re thinking, so pulling out ideas may be like pulling teeth. Critical elements are often withheld until you’ve passed the entry test – but once honestly shared thinking gets going, it runs deep.

12 Oct 2011 to 15 Oct 2011 Sun Conjunction Saturn: If everyone is taking things very seriously, there may be a reason – or there may not be, so lighten up. When progress is slow, spirits dampen, and vice versa, but forced endurance creates strength, so these clouds have silver linings. Commitments made now will hang around for a long time, so choose with care.

14 Oct 2011 to 15 Oct 2011 Venus Opposition Jupiter: Too much, too little, can’t be satisfied — the story you may be hearing today. Real needs and imagined desires can get mixed up, causing ups and downs that can alternately deprive and then waste. Finding the balance is the trick, so all get only their fair share and no one gets left out. Watch phrase: measured generosity.

16 Oct 2011 to 17 Oct 2011 Mercury Sextile Pluto: Tuning in to the Force can be easier than you think – you might be doing it right now. When you work in sure knowledge, it works through you. Thus, what you take for granted is your very support structure. Foundations laid now will have that subtle support that protects without any armour at all.

17 Oct 2011 to 18 Oct 2011 Mercury Opposition Jupiter: Separating the wheat from the chaff is a stop and go operation, and just as a good idea seems about to be fruitful, a problem arises. Each time, however, you get closer to a final fix, so the frustration will be worth it if you see it through to the end. A time to refine big ideas until they have definition.

21 Oct 2011 to 23 Oct 2011 Sun Trine Neptune: Visions that might otherwise be gossamer fables can take on real substance and efforts initiated today can turn dreams into reality down the road. Your confidence in your own personal imaginings is the right stuff for others to rally around, and a general agreement on inner reality is at hand.

23 Oct 2011 to 22 Nov 2011 Sun Enters Scorpio: Still waters run deep, but only when you can get below the surface. The coming month’s theme may be probing the depths, or seeming to, while keeping out distracting disturbances. That makes for high intensity when you’re inside someone’s door, or they’re inside yours, but complete mystery when you’re/they’re not.

24 Oct 2011 to 28 Oct 2011 Mars Sextile Saturn It takes firm ground and good traction to run a long race, and that’s what is available for those willing to take advantage of it now. Put the heat on low and slow cook that roast until it’s perfectly tender. Playing the long game is easy — Rome wasn’t built in a day, and that’s how it became the Eternal City.

26 Oct 2011 to 26 Oct 2011 Moon Conjunction Sun New Moon is the very time for giving up the old and ringing in the new, rebundling your energies into another package. Commitments made now are intense, all-eggs-in-one-basket, but give them time to develop and to get their bearings. Time for laying cornerstones, the walls and rafters come later.

25 Oct 2011 to 28 Oct 2011 Venus Square Mars: Try, try again and you may wonder why you did. Sometimes an object of desire eludes the chase and constant and repeated forays tangle things even more. You may have to call it perfecting your technique, and that may be the long and short of it. Anyone can have an off day, one that holds lessons for tomorrow.

27 Oct 2011 to 29 Oct 2011 Mercury Square Mars: The seemingly best ideas can get tangled indeed when they are not implemented correctly, and correcting that can be a tangle in itself. Thrashing things out seems to mark the current environment, and you can join in if you must — or if you can afford to, sit out the fray on the sidelines and let others spin their wheels.

22 Oct 2011 to 04 Nov 2011 Jupiter Trine Pluto: New frontiers, hot prospects, expanded operations are not hard to sell right now — in fact, the soft sell will be the most successful. Whether you are promoting your affections or your consumer product, act as if it’s the only way to go in the world and is pretty much of an accomplished fact already. The more faith you have in yourself, the more others will have in you, and the more likely things will work out right for you, since everyone is expecting them to.

28 Oct 2011 to 29 Oct 2011 Sun Opposition Jupiter: The best-laid plans need revamping when the envelope is pushed too far, and there may be some bursting bubbles in the neighbourhood right about now. If you’ve gone a bridge too far, now’s the time to regroup and patch up the plans that seemed to be working fine moments ago. When that’s done, you can move confidently again.

28 Oct 2011 to 30 Oct 2011 Sun Sextile Pluto: Quiet self-confidence allows forward motion without interference and without making waves. If you look like you know where you’re going, the crowd will part to let you pass. Commitments or relationships begun now will share that enduring quality and make it easily through the storms of life and into the sunshine.

31 Oct 2011 to 01 Nov 2011 Venus Square Neptune: Desires deceive and getting hold of what’s wanted seems to be a continuing and elusive task. Watch out for illusions and delusions being sold as the real thing, then snatched out of reach just before consummation. If you’re unsure, don’t invest time or money or you’ll be perpetuating the situation.

Well, that’s the transits for October – More about the long term next week.

May the Stars be with you…

Welcome to August! I thought it was going to be a quiet month, but having looked at the charts, it seems we’re in for a bit of a busy time.

In fact, the month of August is influenced greatly by the New Moon of July 30th, as New Moons carry a broad prediction of weather for the coming 28 day lunar cycle. Of course August will be hot on Ibiza – it always is with the Sun is in Leo, which it rules, – a bit like the King being on his throne. But don’t expect an absolute scorcher this year because there will be lot of warm and wet influence by Venus and the Moon, with odd days of Saturnian cool.

The 30th brought not only a New Moon, but another earthquake deep under the ocean floor just off the east coast of Japan. Not as devastating as the previous one, but 6.3 which is a good shaking for anyone. I looked at the chart for this latest quake, and interestingly, to the minute it struck, Saturn, planet of earth and underground workings was passing over the IC. The IC is the point directly opposite the point of Mid Heaven at that moment. Of course cynics will dismiss it as pure co-incidence….. Amazing co-incidence though!

The New Moon saw the beginning of some powerful Solar Flare activity, which sounds rather ominous…. Just be extra careful for the next week or so! The weather will suffer uncertainty too. To add fuel to that hot spot, Mars is ‘Out of Bounds’ until the 22nd. Out of Bounds means it has moved outside the Earth’s boundary of tilt (the ‘ecliptic’) which is just about 23.5 degrees. When planets move outside this, they are regarded as becoming somewhat maverick in their influence, so Mars out of control for a few weeks should be exciting.

Of course revolutionary Pluto in establishment Capricorn is still continuing with its upheavals. I note the latest revelations in the on-going News International saga. Since Mars went OoB on July 24th it has been revealed that the NoW fully financed mobile phone so kindly given to the mother of Sarah Payne by then editor Rebekah Brooks had been hacked. Moreover, the reporter/investigator who was jailed for the prior NoW phone tapping has now stated openly via his solicitor that he ‘was instructed’ to hack phones. Mrs Brooks is reported as declaring Mrs Payne as a ‘very dear and great friend’. Yet more corrupt establishments crumbling? The recalling of James Murdoch to answer further questions will also be revealing.

As a partial aside from astrology, I confess that last month, I took the love of my life to Amante Beach Club, for dinner at the evening of the Full Moon. The setting there is fabulous with stunning views of the Moon rising romantically out of the sea, shimmering across the water with the big ferries lit up in its beams. The Amante food and service were impeccable, so a big thank you to everyone there who made our evening so special. The next Full Moon is on Saturday the 13th at 20.57, which means that you can sit at your table and countdown the minutes to the precise moment of the Full Moon. Wow! Romantic moments don’t come much better than that! I do know those special menu-evenings get booked well ahead, so don’t miss out, book today.

I think that’s enough ramblings; time now for the transits forecast. These describe what’s happening as the planets orbit the Earth, some fast, some slow just like a Grand Prix. Some bring elation, some bring disaster. The dates give the effective period of the influence. No Moon aspects remember – it just moves too fast…. Blink and both the aspect and its effect has gone. Remember too that whereever you read this, it was created by ibizaastrologerwordpress.com.

31 Jul 2011 to 02 Aug 2011

Venus Trine Uranus: A broad scope of varied and original experiences are open for exploration, and it’s easy to lose your fear of risk and embrace the new. What might have seemed a bit over the top before now looks like your cup of tea, with others jumping in to try out the most exotic tastes. There’s nothing like a hands-on education.

31 Jul 2011 to 02 Aug 2011

Sun Square Jupiter: Overblown, repetitious plans could use a little trimming and when you see that time-wasting windbag headed your way, make tracks. A tendency to overdo with diminishing returns colors actions, and if brevity is the soul of wit, you’d never know it now. Buck the tide, simplify, and don’t commit until that’s done.

03 Aug 2011 to 26 Aug 2011

Mercury Stationary Retrograde: The strongest moment in the retrograde period. Grinding to a halt, Mercury looks around for weaknesses in technology and communication systems. Moving backwards, then forwards again eventually it tests to destruction those things it finds wanting.

03 Aug 2011 to 19 Sep 2011

Mars Enters Cancer: People will be exerting themselves with some amount of caution for some time to come, as the inclination is to put all your energy into one, cherished effort and nurture it through, ignoring other prospects or demands. That doesn’t make for good team play, but it favours solo artists who know what they’re up to.

02 Aug 2011 to 04 Aug 2011

Mars Trine Neptune: Ideal thrusts and parries are easy to make and the show is entertaining enough to make progress without getting bored. Putting energy into dream-building is just the thing and the more you put your shoulder into it, the more help you’ll get from others you convince to follow your star. Belief and deeds go hand in hand.

04 Aug 2011 to 04 Aug 2011

Moon Sextile Sun: Taking it easy and letting things happen will let opportunities continue to grow that are already underway. Situations beginning now will be cooperative and helpful to you as they progress. A general atmosphere of getting along together prevails and will continue to if you just go with the flow.

03 Aug 2011 to 06 Aug 2011

Mercury Sextile Mars: Making the most of previous arrangements causes seemingly ordinary procedures to become prime producers. When things are in order, all runs so smoothly that you hardly notice how well it’s going. It might be a time to take a second look at what it takes to get it right so you can better maintain your trajectory.

05 Aug 2011 to 03 Feb 2012

Neptune retrogrades into Aquarius: The coming fourteen-year period will likely see the idealization of the common folk, even to the level of thinking they’re essentially a lot better off than they are, even superior, and thus subject to all sorts of scams. The blessing is the discoveries involved in recovery from that. Epidemics are a hallmark of this period, so expect at least one significant one.

04 Aug 2011 to 06 Aug 2011

Venus Square Jupiter: An inclination to overdo beyond diminishing returns is fueled by the desire to get things just right. One more added touch, just another taste, try it once again, until satisfaction goes out the window. Sometimes less really is more, even if it doesn’t seem like it, so backing off may save you both time and money.

04 Aug 2011 to 06 Aug 2011

Sun Sextile Saturn: Small investments are the safest, and small returns mount up. Conservative thinking can pay off if you don’t make a big deal out of it. Any boat you launch now will be hard to rock, even in a storm, so it’s a good time to ease her away from the dock and put gradually to sea. The world awaits, but don’t rush.

07 Aug 2011 to 09 Aug 2011

Venus Sextile Saturn: The little things in life can be the most satisfying, and, when closely viewed, often loom larger than they really are. Simple desires, simply satisfied, have a way of sustaining life that allows both joy and unhindered progress. Today’s endeavours will share that quality as they develop, quenching your thirst, banking your fires.

08 Aug 2011 to 09 Sep 2011

Mercury retrogrades into Leo: There’s a sense of fun in just chatting over the next few weeks, and the details of what’s said are less important than originality and creative spirit. It’s a time for birthing ideas, not putting them through school, so join in with the general creative urge to talk things out. For once, for the moment, it’s the feeling that counts.

05 Aug 2011 to 10 Aug 2011

Mercury Opposition Neptune: Bewitched, bothered, and bewildered was written for this moment – maybe befuddled, as well. Just when you’ve got your head on it, it vanishes, a Chimera in broad daylight. And it’s happening to everyone else, too, a regular blind man’s bluff. Don’t press it, just marvel as it comes and goes, then passes altogether.

08 Aug 2011 to 11 Aug 2011

Mars Square Uranus: Sparks fly as honing in on issues gets problematical and irritation makes for rough handling. Mistakes born of haste are not easily corrected and repeated efforts are best marked off to experience. Itchy and edgy, the mood is unsettled and it’s not the best time for laying down foundations where steadiness is required.

09 Aug 2011 to 12 Aug 2011

Mars Opposition Pluto: There may be some disarray about as head-on collisions, encounters with walls and trees, and total engine failure both literally and figuratively litter the landscape. When opposing sides meet, it’s the immovable object that wins, since irresistible forces have taken the day off. So don’t strain yourself, and when in doubt just back off.

13 Aug 2011 to 13 Aug 2011

Moon Opposition Sun: Full Moon brings fruition, but also high emotional tides; what you do now may turn out to have been overdone when you look back on it. Deals sealed now may swing erratically later on, but if kept under control will be fat and fruitful. This is the time for plucking the fruit from the tree, not planting one.

Well Astrobloggers, that’s the weekend’s fabulous Full Moon; remember it’s at 20.57 for military types, or three minutes to nine in the evening. Watch and enjoy it somewhere special!

12 Aug 2011 to 20 Aug 2011

Venus Conjunction Sun: Ego compounding desire can make this moment hot but near-sighted at the same time. In the passion of the moment all are more likely looking out for number one than for the general good, and the possibility of missing the long-range win is real. Seek what you want, but remember you’ll still have needs tomorrow.

16 Aug 2011 to 17 Aug 2011

Mercury Conjunction Venus: This is an ideal time for achievement in arts and letters — whether it’s redecorating, taking great pictures and movies, or doing a makeover. A keen eye for the beautiful is in sharp focus and a strong sense of shape and proportion makes for good judgment in all aspect of design, now and for posterity.

16 Aug 2011 to 17 Aug 2011

Mercury Conjunction Sun: High mental energy burns hot, a real brain boiler. The trick is to keep up with everyone without missing a stitch or dropping the ball. Great ideas abound, but don’t buy everything you see until you give it a second, cooler look. Everyone can be too close to the subject to realize that what recommends it is only the heat of the moment.

17 Aug 2011 to 20 Aug 2011

Mars Sextile Jupiter: Cruise control is the key to forward motion, so don’t waste time pumping the pedal, just set it for the speed limit and keep your hands on the wheel – the rest will take care of itself. When operations are well-tuned, you can afford to be on automatic along with the rest of the world, driving without distraction.

20 Aug 2011 to 22 Aug 2011

Venus Opposition Neptune: Difficulty in focusing in on just what it is you want is universal, so don’t try to pin down other people’s orders (or your own) too tightly as no one has as firm a grip as usual. Where you can put off decision, do so, as whatever you initiate will partake of this uncertainty down the line and this moment could stick with you longer than you might like.

21 Aug 2011 to 15 Sep 2011

Venus Enters Virgo: Finicky taste abounds for the next few weeks, and you’ll find people turning up their noses at situations they would have gratefully embraced only weeks earlier. Competition will, of course, change all that soon enough, so if you’re wise you can pick up the neglected seconds now and they’ll be worth double in no time. In fact, you may want to keep them.

22 Aug 2011 to 24 Aug 2011

Sun Opposition Neptune: Attempts at self-assertion can be met with sporadic confusion and uncertainty caused by misinformation, or even disinformation. You’re not the only one making your way through the mists, however, so sound a fog horn if you want to avoid collisions. A good time for introspection and revisiting your dreams.

23 Aug 2011 to 23 Sep 2011

Sun Enters Virgo: You don’t know how abundant your harvest is until you count all the sheaves in your granary, and that kind of attitude abounds in general for the next month or so. Life is grand in all its little details, but only if the details don’t belittle it. Seeing the forest for the trees may be a challenge now, but enjoy each tree as you pass.

23 Aug 2011 to 27 Aug 2011

Mars Square Saturn: Trying to push on too hard in the face of incremental resistance puts a strain on everyone, with some accompanying lessons to be learned. To wit, don’t pursue energy-wasters once you’ve spotted what’s happening. If you’re not getting anywhere, move on to the next and return another day to finish up.

25 Aug 2011 to 26 Aug 2011

Venus Trine Pluto: When you’re sure you’re going to get what you want, you probably will, and that kind of attitude all around makes for a general win-win situation. Cross-purposes are at a minimum and a fundamental agreement on mutual goals and desires means one hand washes the other and vice versa for joint pleasures.

26 Aug 2011 to 28 Aug 2011

Moon Enters Leo: Creative and uncensored feelings can make for an almost party atmosphere if you follow the flow and avoid the usual impediments for the next couple of days. The world is looking for a lover, and you can put yourself into that picture however you choose. Make a breakout, or just let the rising tide carry you along.

26 Aug 2011 to 24 Nov 2011

Mercury Stationary Direct: At last! Mercury stands still from its backward journey, the searchlight is again remains fixed on communication and technology today, before Mercury sets off again covering the same ground, endeavouring to ‘get it right’ this time.

27 Aug 2011 to 29 Aug 2011

Sun Trine Pluto: A strong sense of self-assurance can enable everyone to pull together now, based on the faith that it will come out all right in the end, whatever happens. Endeavors begun with that in mind will be virtually bulletproof and a firm foundation is there for you if you choose to take a chance.

29 Aug 2011 to 29 Aug 2011

Moon Conjunction Sun: New Moon is the very time for giving up the old and ringing in the new, re-bundling your energies into another package. Commitments made now are intense, all-eggs-in-one-basket, but give them time to develop and to get their bearings. Time for laying cornerstones, the walls and rafters come later.

29 Aug 2011 to 31 Aug 2011

Venus Trine Jupiter: Bounty and generosity go hand in hand and snowball when everyone is willing to tap assets without holding back. To live is to give, and get back accordingly. Launch it now and there will always be plenty to go around, a veritable birthday for the golden goose. The operant idea is growth through good feeding in all respects.

30 Aug 2011 to 25 Dec 2011

Jupiter Stationary Retrograde: It seems we’ve missed an opportunity somewhere along the line! Jupiter is planet of expansion and growth, and today it’s looking hard at them. It moves backwards until Christmas Day when it starts over in a renewed attempt to get things moving.

Until next month, best wishes from,

This morning (Monday 13th June) I read of two more earthquakes in Christchurch New Zealand. A 5.2 and later a 6.0. No deaths are reported, but considerable damage again occurred.

It occurred just after the Moon’s perigee on the 12th, where the moon passed closest to the earth, – just like last time, and just before Full Moon on the 15th.

The big 6.3 earthquake in February occurred as I mentioned at the time, when both perigee and Full Moon occurred together.

Astrologer and Astro-Meterologist Ken Ring in NZ had warned of this occurrence months in advance, but was poh-poohed by the ‘experts’ who said Ken’s method was ‘nonsense’.

After the event, they even threatened to sue him if he continued to publish warnings.

The impartial (?) BBC via Prof. Brian Cox and hack/comedian Dara O’Briain condemns astrology, as does the closed mind of Jimmy Wales at Wikipedia.

Looks like nature and the cosmos is pointing out once more who is speaking nonsense.

I’m sure that the May blog attracted the comment – well he got that date wrong… referring to the tragic earthquake in Lorca on May 11th. I had suggested that “Around the 17th could be a time of more destructive seismic activity/storms/weather”. I looked at the chart for Lorca on the 11th and it showed several significators for disruption of some sort, but not of the magnitude that transpired.

Fortunately the 17th passed without seismic drama in Europe, but note the following report from an earthquake watch website in the USA:-

18th May 2011 – Nicaragua’s Telica volcano spewed a massive cloud of gas and ash into the air Tuesday following several strong explosions. Material was ejected 1.2 kilometres into the air above the crater of the 1,060-metre volcano, the seismological institute Ineter said. A total of 50 explosions were recorded. Since May 9, Ineter has recorded 59 seismic shocks in the area, and Telica had ejected a large amount of sand on nearby cities since Friday. Sixty nearby villages were evacuated as a precautionary measure. The volcano is located in Leon province, some 130 kilometres north-west of Managua. It last erupted in 1948.

I have to say that my Ibiza Astroblog does seem to be acceptable, even desirable, as it now appears on several other web sites relating to Ibiza, a number without my prior knowledge or permission.

For the record, Ibiza Astroblog originates right HERE! Come back here to sample the liqor from the still!

June 1 sees a New Moon, and partial solar eclipse, at 11° 1’ Gemini and it makes no major aspects to anything else in the sky. That suggests it stands alone on its own influence, and that influence is of Mercury, ruler of Gemini. Mercury is the winged messenger, so I expect that new ideas will abound, together with new ways of doing things. In a word… Gestalt!

While the eclipse stands alone, we still experience the Saturn-Uranus opposition, which is the classic stop:go contradiction, with both sparring partners squared to Pluto in Capricorn. No change there then, but maybe the eclipse will trigger a burst of energy, and we see some kerfuffle in the financial/political arenas. There’s also the remains of the Venus-Mars conjunction in Taurus. The romance of Venus, swept of her feet by passionate Mars! In Taurus no less – suggesting that someone somewhere will be getting all steamed up about protecting families and homes. That perfected a week ago, just about the time the dreadful forest fire started, and people were moved to passionate and dramatic action to save our beloved island. I heard a rumour (I can as yet call it no more) that the fire was started as a protest against the poor conditions of some people here…… That would demonstrate another face to the Mars & Venus conjunction.

Mercury, planet of thoughts communications swings to its extreme of orbit and goes ‘out of bounds’ (OOB) between 10th – 28th. Just like driving off the edge of the road, onto the dirt, it’s uncharted territory, which means that the unexpected can easily happen. That could be a new discovery, a fantastic innovation, or a total haywire catastrophe…… OOB, the rules just don’t apply.

After the Full Moon in Sagittarius on the 15th, comes the Summer Solstice on the 21st. The Sun enters Cancer. The longest day! The end of spring, the beginning of summer, quarter day….. Well, I shall not be watching the sunrise at Stonehenge, but I shall be watching!

Sunrise on the 21st, Solstice day is at 06.35

The Solstice is in early evening on the 21st at 19.17 which is the precise time the Sun enters the sign of Cancer. More about that later.

On to the daily transits for June…. Again this month, the period of influence is shown.

31 May 2011 to 02 Jun 2011

Sun Trine Saturn, so there’s a certain pleasure in feeling well-grounded, and this moment would make a firm foundation for whatever you choose to build upon it. If your plans are already made, it’s time for the cornerstone to be laid. Go with what you’ve got, as there’s a no-frills feeling that’s saying keep it simple, take it slow.

01 Jun 2011 to 02 Jun 2011

Moon Conjunction Sun: The New Moon is the very time for giving up the old and ringing in the new, rebundling your energies into another package. Commitments made now are intense, all-eggs-in-one-basket, but give them time to develop and to get their bearings. Time for laying cornerstones, the walls and rafters come later.

02 Jun 2011 to 16 Jun 2011

Mercury Enters Gemini

The coming few weeks will be ideal for wide-range brainstorming, as the

general climate is up for more open communications and generally batting ideas around without having to commit to them immediately. There’s a breezy feeling to it, like air running through your hair, freedom of speech at its safest and best.

03 Jun 2011 to 09 Nov 2011

Neptune Stationary Retrograde: Old dreams come into focus as visions and insights from them prevail.

02 Jun 2011 to 03 Jun 2011

Mercury Square Neptune: It’s easy to insist on cutting your way through the confusion only to find yourself more at sea than before. Perhaps it is better to roll over and go back to sleep and wake up on the other side of the bed. Elusive concepts flee in the face of challenge, so watch the show without requiring explanation. No subtitles available.

04 Jun 2011 to 11 Jun 2012

Jupiter Enters Taurus so a year of slow expansion is now ahead, during which the best-laid plans take a long time to lay down, but once they’re in place, there’s no stopping them. The future looks bright, but gradual, and the sure-footed approach is the accepted way to go. It’s all about doing it well, making it all come true at the right time.

04 Jun 2011 to 05 Jun 2011

Mercury Sextile Uranus so the wellsprings of the mind are like water, often taken for granted. When ideas flow fresh from the tap, one assumes they are always there, as at this moment. Launch it now and that will likely always be the case, but a look inside the mechanics of your everyday creativity might help you drink when wells run dry.

07 Jun 2011 to 08 Jun 2011

Mercury Trine Saturn: Steady focus and clear reductive thinking get reliable results that inspire confidence in others, particularly those on the conservative side. Keep your eye on long-term operations and slow but steady development. Think big but not fast, what is begun now is for posterity, and that’s forever, so you’ve got time.

04 Jun 2011 to 14 Jun 2011

Jupiter Sextile Neptune A more realistic and satisfying way to blend dreams, hopes, and expectations by sharing is in the wind, if you are willing to take a deep breath. Actually, a series of shallow breaths describes it better. What once you may have kept to yourself, it is time to exchange with others who have been in the same situation. Fortunately, the air is very conducive to doing just that, and what might have been hard to say before comes more easily with the knowledge that it is a two-way street of mutual trust and reward. You may find this critical to your happiness, or you may just find yourself in a general situation where it helps others and it’s the best thing to do to go along. Either way, you win.

There’s more next week… starting with Venus entering Gemini…

Until then, be happy – it’s inside you just let it out!

Those of you who follow my various blogs know that I’m pretty diverse in my interests and activities.

During three decades of diverse experience as a professionally qualified speaker, lecturer and teacher my oratory skills led me to be frequently chosen as reader in my local Chapels and Churches. There I created and delivered inspiring intercession prayers, and readings.

After a lifetime helping young people and adults reach pinnacles of career success, and providing counselling support for the bereaved, I founded blessings-on-ibiza. Now in a strangely busy retirement I finds great delight in helping couples make their Ibiza Wedding Ceremony a wonderful and cherished lifetime memory.

Simply put, my professionalism is paramount for the success of life’s big occasions which are not a rehearsal.

Perusing the May charts, I’m reminded of the ancient Chinese curse: “May you live in interesting times”.

I think May will be interesting, but it’s being rather enigmatic about it all. Apparently a quiet month, quite chilled out, but there are a few land-mines about which could blow up in someone’s face.

The month begins with Mars conjunct Jupiter. Mars is second of the malefics after Saturn, and is about war, fire, and aggression, while Jupiter is the great benefic and is about benevolence, munificence, expansion and growth. Another cliché: Marriages being made in heaven….. but so are thunder and lightning…. That’s the paradox of Mars and Jupiter.

Although a few hours earlier, but far less powerful, there’s another enigma with Venus opposing Saturn. Warm wet Venus opposing cold dry Saturn. It’s almost a confusion or challenge between good and evil…. Same coin, different face?

Meanwhile, retrograde Saturn is hanging about almost stationary all month, and as such is close to a square with both Pluto and Uranus. Like a veiled threat…… Saturnian order and discipline, squaring up against intense Pluto, and sudden shock Uranus. Revolution against authority? Maybe the clue is in those May 1st aspects…. Which leads to another cliché…. “One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter”.

There’s a New Moon in Taurus on the 3rd, and that too might be an interesting time…. Taurus playing host to Moon and Sun, as paternal Taurus does, but the chart for the New Moon places it in the 12th house….. of institutions, prisons, and hidden enemies.

At least the New Moon chart has one piece of good news, with the 4th house cusp in Leo, which is ruled by the Sun. And that my friends indicates a 28 day lunar cycle with plenty of warm sunshine! Mercury is still in Aries, and remains with the Uranus influence for a while, so unexpected gusts will continue, while Neptune continues to provide bits of cloud.

Around the 17th could be a time of more destructive seismic activity/storms/weather. Remember your brolly, and be prepared for interrupted journeys.

And on to the major aspects for May. I’m prefixing each aspect with an indication of its duration, rather than the date on which it perfects. Many many other aspects join the major ones, and the exact timing of an event depends upon the optimal moment. Hence a major aspect can be the point of change for several occurrences, albeit not at the same moment.

30 Apr to 01 May – Venus Opposition Saturn: Journeys of desire proceed despite interruptions, but at a slower rate. If at first you don’t get what you want, try it again differently until you find your way around the roadblocks. Where resources fall short, cleverness intercedes and patience perseveres. Fortunes are seldom made overnight, so take one step at a time.

29 Apr to 03 May Mars Conjunction Jupiter: Boundless energy and enthusiasm can overwhelm, like a crowd of runners all attempting the hundred-metre dash. You may want to think about not

joining that herd but siphoning off some of the energy around you in a more reasoned way. Eagerness often lacks staying power, but passion can be a thrill when directed.

03 May to 03 May Moon Conjunction Sun: New Moon is the very time for giving up the old and ringing in the new. Re-bundle your energies into a new package. Commitments made now are intense, all-eggs-in-one-basket, but give them time to develop and to get their bearings. A time for laying cornerstones, – walls and rafters come later.

05 May to 20 May Mercury Conjunction Venus: This is an ideal time for achievement in the arts and writing – whether it’s redecorating, taking great pictures and movies, or doing a makeover. A keen eye for the beautiful is in sharp focus and a strong sense of shape and proportion makes for good judgment in all aspect of design, now and for posterity.

11 May to 21 Jun Mars Enters Taurus: The need to get on with things takes a slow turn for a while to come. Actions become of necessity more deliberate, sometimes ponderous. Although headway may be gradual all around, it’s a good time for laying solid foundations and putting your sweat into investments that will last a long time.

10 May to 12 May Venus Conjunction Jupiter: Big appetites and a large bite out of life depict the day. That means dig in right there, but don’t overdo. Spectacular beauty will characterise launches in love or money, but take things with a barrel of salt. Nevertheless, enjoy.

10 May to 12 May Mercury Conjunction Jupiter: Various new plans and schemes fill the air. If you can latch onto one that really works, you can go far. If there is a problem, weed out the best from the rest and settle on what to do with it. No time now for details, just get the concepts right.

11 May to 13 May Mars Sextile Neptune: Small illusions and occasional flattery grease the path for everyone, so good manners based on consideration of others makes even the most insincere friendships rewarding. Gilding the truth doesn’t always mean lying, just spreading cheer and optimism that enlivens and revitalises all concerned.

16 May to 09 Jun Venus Enters Taurus: There’s harmony in simplicity in the air. The old pleasures haven’t lost their appeal. For the next few weeks, you don’t need a fancy cuisine to take a nice bite out of life.

16 May to 02 Jun Mercury Enters Taurus: There’s a certain ponderous quality to communications in the coming weeks, which is great for gaining ground and making sure you know what’s really happening. Solid, well-crafted ideas have appeal whereas flights of fancy have a harder time getting heard because a leap of imagination is difficult with both your feet on the ground.

05 May to 20 May Mercury Conjunction Venus: This is an ideal time for achievement in the arts and writing – whether it’s redecorating, taking great pictures and movies, or doing a makeover. A keen eye for the beautiful is in sharp focus and a strong sense of shape and proportion makes for good judgment in all aspect of design.

15 May to 17 May Mercury Sextile Neptune: The messages of the spirit are clearest when you are not directly seeking them. It is now that wisdom unheralded and unnoticed displays itself around you. A special comfort comes from knowing secrets without shouting them. A quiet word and a knowing glance tell all.

15 May to 17 May Venus Sextile Neptune: Good taste is everything and it’s at its most real when you don’t even notice it. What feels right unquestionably is right. Enjoy the drink that’s already been poured – you’ll find it suits you more than you ever imagined.

17 May to 17 May Moon Opposition Sun: Full Moon brings fruition, but also high emotional tides; what you do now may turn out to have been overdone when you look back on it. Deals done now may swing erratically later on, but if kept under control will be fat and fruitful. This is the time for plucking fruit from the tree, not planting.

19 May 22 May Mars Trine Pluto: Forceful action is highlighted by confidence and follow-through, doubling the available power at hand. Swing through and not at the ball, and it will soar straight and true. Today’s beginnings will mature to be self-reliant and reliable, fuelled by faith and conviction.

20 May to 21 May Mercury Trine Pluto: When you’ve got it all thought out, run with it and everyone will follow. Forceful words expressed in a friendly manner brook no opposition. A powerful concept sweeps the field better than an onslaught.

19 May to 22 May Mercury Conjunction Mars: Ideas catch fire and the mind races as your thinking cap jams with the hammer down. A heady time indeed, but you’ll need to keep pace with the rest of the world which is experiencing the same thing. Strike while the iron is hot!

21 May to 21 Jun Sun Enters Gemini: The month ahead promises a lot of heightened communication – at least that’s the general expectation, so expect to hit a chord if you say more rather than less. Intellectual solutions are the rage, but that may be simply to paper over what’s being ignored underneath. Keep you options open however as you never know which sound bite is going to wind up being true.

21 May to 22 May Venus Trine Pluto: When you’re sure you’re going to get what you want, you probably will! That kind of attitude all around makes for a general win-win situation. Cross-purposes are at a minimum and a fundamental agreement on mutual goals means one hand washes the other and vice versa.

21 May to 23 May Sun Square Neptune: Deceits and deceptions are hard to distinguish from honest mistakes and confusions. When in doubt it’s probably best not to try to find out. It’s easy for everyone to get into a tangle over minor misunderstandings that waste time and energy. Don’t let it lie and don’t make moves – you want to be on a solid foot.

21 May to 25 May Venus Conjunction Mars: It’s sparkle time! Love and desire are born and animal magnetism is instilled into every step you take. It’s the perfect time for love, romance, and passion and it has star power written all over. If you want to start something with high profile public appeal, now’s the time.

24 May to 26 May Sun Sextile Uranus: Sometimes you can see just as well with a flashlight as with a floodlight if you are examining something small. The simplest solutions are often the most ingenious, and it’s the household gadget that makes most inventors rich. Small and clever is the order of the day, and what’s more it has staying power.

And that’s it for May!

Solstice next month! Doesn’t time fly when you’re having fun?

Until flaming June, enjoy with my blessing, an enigmatic May.
